Hello friends! The youths are walking past my house to middle school. Shit’s bad, but at least we don’t have to repeat junior high?
Hope you read this without dreams of forgetting your locker combination.
Read: New story!
It’s new and it’s weird. Enjoy.

Some things I’ve been reading, watching, and listening to:

Devo: Stick with me. Even if you don’t know much about the band Devo, this documentary is eye-opening, funny, smart, and wild. The guys were trying to show how the world is an absolute mess, while record execs and the public just wanted another “Whip It.” Entertaining, and highly relevant to today. Plus: DAVID BOWIE SHOWS UP.
Sally: NASA scientists thought the first American woman in space would need 100 tampons for a week. And that’s just one of so many incredible stupidities that scientists and the media showed when Sally Ride took her rocket to space in 1983. But beyond that, Sally felt she had to hide who she was. So this documentary features her partner Tam and other astronauts to tell the full story.
Red Scare: Blacklists, McCarthyism, and the Making of Modern America, by Clay Risen. We repeat history, and if we’re unsure of that, this book shows us proof. Replace 1950s’ “communism” with today’s “woke,” and you’ve got a eerily similar match for the Republican playbook of attacking schools, books, art, and the government itself. The book is an excellent, thoughtful read that give some perspective to what’s happened today.
