Banning books doesn’t work, dummies
Book banners forget the whole idea of reverse psychology: ban something, and you just make that thing so much more attractive.
These kids get that banning books is a futile and ultimately doomed gesture. And they’re making reading banned books a tool for learning and fun.

Reading now
I’ve read tons of books about artists, musicians, and writers, and learned that if they were anywhere near NYC in the 20th century, chances are their stories intersect with the Chelsea Hotel.
I found this book, Inside the Dream Palace, that explores the wild history of this place spanning a century. It was created as almost a utopian commune as a reaction to the Gilded Age and all its robber barons, then fell on hard times and became a squatters’ and artists’ paradise. The book is written so well - propulsive and eye-opening.
A weird gem

And in the process, I’m bringing to life other books that I loved, but which never got tapped by traditional presses for publishing.
