Hello to all who subscribed to AmyLeeLillard.com! I’ve moved my newsletter over to Substack, and brought you with me. Hope you read this while six fans are blasting your way. (Or is that just me?)
Read for free: “Head Like a Hole” from Dig Me Out
Dig Me Out, my first book of stories from 2021, is no longer in print. But I want everyone to read it. So I’ll be publishing the stories from the collection here.
First up: Get weird and earthy.

Coming September 1: The Art of Resistance Podcast
In shitty times like these, I’m finding comfort looking to artists from the past and how they resisted even more shitty times.
And I want to share these stories with everyone.
So September 1, The Art of Resistance Podcast premieres. Listen to the trailer here or wherever you listen to podcasts, and subscribe to the show’s newsletter for visuals, behind the scenes, and bonus content.
What do you want in a creative network?
I’m working on a new kind of creative community. And I want your thoughts!
Take the survey and help create the best place for creatives!
I’ve long been looking for the right community for me. I’ve tried writers’ groups and workshops, class communities, even an MFA alumni network. But the focus always seems to be off - too territorial, too publishing-focused, too heteronormative, too too too…
Plus: I’m autistic, so I don’t thrive in in-person settings. And: these days I’m looking to use art as resistance. To make the weird stuff. Which often feels antithetical to many community members’ goals.
Is there an alternative? I’m trying to find out!
Take 5-10 minutes to complete the survey, and let’s see if we can build something better.
Thanks for reading! And stay cool. Here’s a song to help:
